Brownstones to Red Dirt
*Edit--Beautiful drawing was done by Willie Real
I wanted to shout out to the world about an amazing documentary that was so heartfelt and so inspiring....made by two colleagues at Blue Sky Studios, Chad Walker and Dave Lamattina... called Brownstones to Red Dirt . This documentary is about a pen pal program that focuses on a group of at-risk sixth graders living in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn and orphans, of the war, living in Freetown, Sierra Leone..It's through the pen pal program that these kids get to teach one another the beauty of life, their life struggles, and differences .
The amazing Vicki Saulls, my sculpting colleague, has organized an art auction Brownstones to Red Dirt Blog to raise money to further help the kids, in both Brooklyn and Sierra Leone. Many talented artist came together and drew pretty pictures on wooden postcards, which will be auctioned off on Ebay, March 6th-March 13th starting at 8am. All the money raised will help build a library for the kids in Brooklyn, and a new school for the kids in Sierra Leone! If you want to bid, Please save the date for this auction! If you want to donate other ways please go here and contribute! Brownstones to Red Dirt Donate
